Attitude really does make all of the difference. How you feel about people, places, circumstances, events. What you think about your life will determine if you can change it or not.
Attitude of Gratitude
The first step to getting more is to be thankful for what we already have. Thanksgiving is always a good time for us to be thankful, but really it should be every day.
To increase the flow of good ideas and strategies for improving our lifestyle we start with being thankful for what we already have. Is it difficult? Yes and no. I hate paying taxes as much as the next guy but I sure am thankful for the roads, sidewalks, police, fire fighters, and everything else!
Your worst enemy in the fight for success is yourself. And the worst weapon you can use on yourself is cynicism. Being cynical about your life, your job, your career, your chances for the future – all it takes is a little cynicism to take it all away from you. Be thankful for what you have today, be thankful for the lessons you’ve learned, be thankful in advance for your future success.
W.E.I.T
W.E.I.T stands for “whatever it takes”. Be willing to do whatever it takes to achieve your dreams, your new future, lose the weight, guide your kids to academic excellence. I teach this to the kids all the time, I say “How many push-ups should we do to get strong?” They know the answer – and it always comes unanimously: “As many as it takes!” How many green veggies should we eat to get healthy? As many as it takes. How many books should we read to become financially educated? As many as it takes.
Being a Good Finder
Next is the attitude of being what we call a “Good Finder”. There’s this neat little system in your brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS), and what the RAS does is points out things that seem important to you. Get a new car? All of a sudden you see that car everywhere. Buy a new shirt? Everyone seems to have one! If you look for the bad, you find the bad… but, if you look for the good, you find the good.
Even in a tight spot; you can ask yourself “What’s good about this?” If your brain is as sarcastic as mine the answer might first come back as “nothing, stupid” but keep asking until you can find some good.
Humor
The most important part of attitude is to have a good sense of humor. Laughter makes the world go ‘round. I know the pain of failure better than most – I know it hurts. When you’re in the thick of it, there seems to be nothing funny. “But someday you’ll look back and laugh!” Or… we could just do it now!
Hey did I ever tell you why the spider crossed the road…? … To get to his WEB site! HA!
Until next time have a fantastic day!
P.S. I forgot to mention I have a cool little goal setting workshop I’m going to be sending out soon to everyone for free – if you’re looking to set new goals for the new year, you’re going to want this! I’ll keep you up on it!
P.S.S. Don’t forget to share this message if you liked it – I’m fairly hip to the social media dealie-ma-jiggers so Facespace or mybook share, use the googles or even the twitters. I’ve got some cool plans for this site in the near future!
